Clinical Research Assistant – The University of Maryland School of Medicine
The University of Maryland School of Medicine has an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Research Assistant to join the Division of Addictions Research and Treatment in the Department of Psychiatry. The Clinical Research Assistant will assist in the administration of NIH-funded, multi-site clinical trials investigating interventions with patients engaged in outpatient and office-based addiction treatment programs. The Clinical Research Assistant will work in collaboration with lead and local site investigators to implement protocols and carry out day to day study activities at University of Maryland addiction programs. The Clinical Research Assistant will support other division faculty initiatives and research studies as assigned. This position is grant funded.

Essential Functions:
- Responsible for assisting with the performance of research projects in a clinical setting, including recruitment of potential study subjects and collection and organization of data.
- Perform data collection by conducting research interviews, reviewing medical charts, and accessing computerized medical information systems.
- Recruit and screen subjects for research studies according to IRB approved protocols. Obtain consent and enrollment; and assure accurate information for follow-up.
- Utilize REDCap and other electronic data capture systems to collect study data and complete study tasks. Responsible for data input, verification, and integrity.
- May assist with data analysis and interpretation, and the development of statistical reports of study data using descriptive statistics using SAS, STATA, and SPSS statistical software. Assists in developing, submitting, and providing content for grants, papers, abstracts, manuscripts, and presentations. Conducts and analyzes literature searches.
- Perform administrative duties, including visit scheduling and study retention efforts, maintenance of study records, as well as disbursement of study renumeration.
- Maintain communication with coordinating center, lead and local study teams, participants, and clinic personnel regarding protocol specific information and research orders.
- Ensure protocol compliance while participants are in a study.
- Perform other research support activities as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in psychiatry, psychology, nursing, public health, or another scientific field of study related to the research of the clinical setting. Master’s degree preferred.
Experience: Prior clinical research experience preferred. Prior experience with substance use disorder population strongly preferred.
Other: May consider a combination of directly related experience and education.

The Hiring Range for this position is in the mid $40,000s to low $50,000s, commensurate with education and experience.
