Postdoctoral Fellowship in Mental Health Research – Central Arkansas Veterans’ Healthcare System
The Central Arkansas Veterans’ Healthcare System at Little Rock, AR invites applications for a two-year Postdoctoral Fellowship in mental health research and treatment. Duration: September 2024 to August 2026. This fellowship is associated with the South Central VA Mental Illness, Research and Education Center and the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. The training program is designed to prepare psychologists for future leadership roles in research, education and clinical services, particularly in academic and medical care settings such as the Veterans Health Administration. Fellows will have opportunities to collaborate and receive mentorship from national leaders to develop a research career in a wide variety of research topics, including developing, evaluating and implementing evidence-based mental health treatment for persons with mental health and substance use disorders, technology in mental health treatment, evidence-based practices in medical settings, implementation science, primary care/mental health integration, qualitative methods, rural populations access to mental health treatment, PTSD and moral injury, telemedicine and suicide prevention.
Individualized mentored research is combined with a state-of-the-art curriculum including statistics, epidemiology, mental health systems, and innovative research strategies and methods. Psychology fellows spend 25% of their time developing advanced clinical skills and 75% of their time in research. Applicants must be U.S. citizens and be candidates in or have completed an APA or CPA-accredited doctoral program in clinical/counseling psychology and enrolled in or have completed an APA or CPA-accredited internship.
