Postdoctoral Research Fellow – NYU School of Medicine

Position Summary:  The Department of Population Health is seeking applications for a full-time Postdoctoral Research Fellow. The fellow will work with Dr. Jennifer McNeely on an NIH-funded research portfolio focused on improving the identification and treatment of substance use disorders in general medical settings. The research spans screening, prevention, and treatment of opioid and other substance use disorders in clinical settings including primary care clinics, hospitals, and emergency departments. 

The fellow will work with Dr. McNeely on disseminating research findings through publications and presentations, and will have some involvement with ongoing studies. In addition to project-specific activities, postdoctoral fellows will be encouraged to develop their own research questions related to substance use, with mentorship from Dr. McNeely and other senior researchers in the Department. Fellows will also have an opportunity to participate in and pursue research in a range of health care settings that informs clinical care and health policy.

Postdoctoral fellows will be provided with professional development opportunities in an exceptional training environment. This includes opportunities to work with the NIDA Clinical Trials Network, where Dr. McNeely is MPI of the New York Node. Fellows will attend research and mentorship seminar series and will be encouraged to participate in training opportunities specific to their career development. In addition, travel funds will be available for fellows to travel to one conference a year to present their research.

Fellows should have a doctoral degree from an accredited institution (e.g., PhD, Dr PH, ScD, DBA) with training and/or experience in public health, health services research, sociology or psychology preferred. Candidates in all but degree (ABD) with scheduled examination dates will be considered.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $70,000.00 – $75,000.00 annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
