“What’s Emergent in Emerging Adult Recovery Support Services Research?” Forum Series (Part 3)

April 10 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

"What’s Emergent in Emerging Adult Recovery Support Services Research?" Forum Series (Part 3)

"Emerging adults aged 16–25 face heightened risks of opioid use disorder (OUD) and fentanyl-related overdoses. Although medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD) are effective for long-term management, emerging adults often encounter significant challenges, including unmet needs in employment, housing, and social support. These difficulties are further combined with life transitions, such as establishing independence, pursuing vocational growth, and fostering stable relationships, along with risks of high rates of co-occurring mental health issues and polysubstance use, which can complicate recovery efforts. Despite these challenges, very few research studies have addressed the unique recovery needs of this population.

This forum series offers a platform for meaningful dialogue on how to best support emerging adults in their recovery journeys. Participants will have the opportunity to learn from and collaborate with experts, young adults with lived experience, and researchers. Part 3 of this virtual series features presentations by leading recovery scientists highlighting the latest research and innovative strategies for supporting emerging adults' recovery."
