Lab Specialist – University of Virginia

The Department of Psychiatry and Neurobehavioral Sciences at the University of Virginia has an opening for an experienced Lab Specialist (varying levels) to work on addiction studies in Dr. Wendy Lynch’s laboratory. The Lynch Lab uses behavioral, pharmacological, and molecular techniques to delineate the neurobiological basis of addiction, with particular interest in determining the biological basis of sex differences in vulnerability to addiction.

Qualified candidates should have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree although extensive lab-related experience (>6 years) would be considered in lieu of degree. The ideal candidate is expected to demonstrate enthusiasm for experimental research and have excellent organizational and communication skills. Experience in at least two of these areas is preferred: addiction research, behavioral research, neuropharmacology, surgery, and Western blotting/qPCR/RNA-sequencing. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel is strongly preferred.
