2024 CPDD Annual Scientific Meeting

 Minutes:

  1. President’s Report: Deborah Hasin provided CPDD members with the following updates:
    1. General Updates
      1. Program Committee Appreciation: D. Hasin thanked the 2024 Annual Meeting Program Committee for their service and development of an outstanding and record setting meeting.
      2. Executive Committee Appreciation: D. Hasin thanked members of the 2023-2024 Executive Committee for their service and commitment to the College.
    2. State of the College
      1. D. Hasin thanked CPDD members for their continued support and another record setting in-person meeting.
      2. D. Hasin thanked the Executive Office for their continued efforts and success of the 2024 Annual meeting.
  • CPDD Membership continues to grow with increasing numbers of dues payments each year.
  1. Public Policy Office, Sandy Comer and Van Scoyoc Associates lead robust advocacy efforts. Advocacy Day 2025 will be in February.
  2. A Journal task force was launched.
  3. Prioritized support for early career investigators with 80+ travel awards provided to offset meeting attendance costs.
  • Finally, D. Hasin thanked attendees for attending and supporting CPDD. CPDD is in excellent shape for the near and long-term future.
  1. Program Committee Report: Kevin Freeman provided CPDD members with an overview of meeting highlights, including numbers of sessions submitted versus accepted. K. Freeman highlighted that the distribution of abstract topics and plans for new topics going forward. The incoming committee chair, Dr. Cassandra Gipson-Reichardt, was introduced.  Gipson Reichardt will be working on improvements to the submissions and review process to accommodate the large increases in submissions seen in the last two-years.
  2. Treasurer’s Report: William Stoops provided CPDD members with the following updates:
    1. General Update
      1. Treasurer, W. Stoops noted the following regarding CPDD finances:
        • There is a 5-member Finance Committee which meets b i-monthly.
        • The committee provides fiduciary counsel based on; financial review, investment portfolio review and budget and programmatic issues.
      2. Ongoing activities include:
        • BBD audit of 2023 financials
        • Monthly investment review with Evermay
  • CPDD’s investment portfolio continues to grow with a 9.66% increase through June 1, 2024
  1. W. Stoops thanked CPDD donors who made contributions from June 2023 to June 2024
  2. W. Stoops introduced the 1929 Sustaining Society:
    • The society allows for monthly donations of any size, to be set up for auto withdrawal.
    • 1929 represents the year CPDD started
  3. CPDD Executive Office Report: Jesse Howard provided CPDD members with the following updates:
    1. Howard shared the latest membership renewals had reached 1,080 members. Membership consists of Fellow Members (74), Regular Members (564), Associate Members (164), MITs (276), and Corporate Members (2). He thanked Member Services Manager, Julie Hiscock, for her efforts to keep membership renewals on track.
    2. Howard informed members that 2024 Meeting Registration had reached a total of 1576 registrations.
    3. The 2024 Early Career Grant Recipients are:
      1. Robert Seaman, Ph.D., University of Washington
      2. Adati Tarfa, Ph.D., Pharm.D., Yale University
  • Martha Tillson, Ph.D., University of Kentucky
  1. Recognition of Terms of Service: Hasin provided CPDD members with the following updates:
    1. General Update
      1. D. Hasin acknowledged and thanked the CPDD Board of Directors and outgoing Board of Directors Members
      2. D. Hasin welcomed four new Board of Directors Members. New Members include Cecilia Bergeria, Annie Kleykamp, Aron Lichtman and Judith Tsui
    2. Executive Committee Succession
      1. D. Hasin completed the ceremonial succession of CPDD Leadership from the 2023-2024 Executive Committee to the 2024-2025 Executive Committee. The newly elected Executive Committee members are:
        • President: Kelly Dunn, PhD
        • President-Elect: Wendy Lynch, PhD
        • Treasurer: William Stoops, PhD
        • Past-President: Deborah Hasin, PhD
      2. K. Dunn thanked D. Hasin for her leadership and commitment to CPDD.
  1. Nominating Committee Elections: President-Elect Wendy Lynch led the commissioning of the 2023-2024 Nominating Committee. The following members were selected for the Nominating Committee:
    1. Wendy Lynch, Chair and President-Elect
    2. Amy Janes
    3. Margaret Haney
    4. Catherine Moore
    5. William Fantegrossi
