Research Associate – The Institute for Behavioral Health

The Institute for Behavioral Health (IBH) within the Heller School of Social Policy and Management is in search of a Research Associate to join a team examining health insurance coverage for substance use treatment offered by Medicaid health plans. The goal of this work is to provide policymakers, states, and health insurance plans with information that will help improve access to and quality of substance use treatment services. IBH is a leader in addiction health services research, functioning in a team-based environment, with multiple collaborators within and external to Brandeis. This full time position offers hybrid flexibility, with in-person presence 2-3 days per week. We value a diversity of backgrounds and experience.

The position involves working closely with the principal investigator and the research team to support data collection, analysis, and project management. The Research Associate will conduct primary data collection through interviews, data abstraction, and surveys; communicate with health plans and state representatives; help to manage and analyze health care claims data; perform quantitative data analyses using statistical analysis software (SAS or STATA); communicate findings by writing manuscripts and reports and creating presentations and data visualizations; and perform general administrative tasks to advance project interests. Experience with health care claims data analysis and knowledge of substance use and mental health treatment systems preferred.
