Staff Scientist – The National Center for Opioid & Addiction Research (NCOAR)

The National Center for Opioid & Addiction Research (NCOAR) at the Arkansas Children’s Research Institute is recruiting a Staff Scientist to support the research dissemination efforts of Dr. Alicia Allen, NCOAR Director and holder of the Pamela D. Stephens Endowed Chair in Maternal and Fetal Health Research. This interdisciplinary role advances innovative work aimed at improving maternal and infant outcomes by investigating the causes of birth defects and adverse pregnancy outcomes linked to maternal substance use disorder.

This position is ideal for a doctoral-level scientist with strong writing and analytic skills who is passionate about translating rigorous research into real-world impact. The Staff Scientist will take a leading role in converting study findings into high-impact scientific products (e.g., manuscripts, abstracts, posters, presentations) while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of investigators across academic, clinical, and community audiences. Additional responsibilities include contributing to protocol development, data analysis and interpretation, mentorship of trainees and research staff, and supporting grant and proposal development.
