Updates on Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Read the latest update from CPDD leadership.

After lengthy negotiations with The Diplomat Resort due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the In-Person CPDD Meeting at in Hollywood, Florida is canceled. CPDD will host the 2020 Meeting virtually June 22-24, 2020 to provide a forum for the latest substance use disorder research.  Your patience and understanding are appreciated as our team manages the transition.

Why host a Virtual Meeting? The health and well-being of our attendees is of the utmost importance as the Board of Directors considered the options of cancellation, postponement, or changing to a virtual event. This has been an extremely difficult decision for the Board, as CPDD is a not-for-profit organization that relies heavily on its annual scientific meeting to sustain its financial well-being. Furthermore, CPDD's mission is to provide a national and international forum for scientists of diverse backgrounds to advance the understanding of molecular-neurobiological aspects of addictive disorders, and this is achieved by the annual scientific meeting.

What about my hotel reservation? The Diplomat Beach Resort will be canceling all rooms in the CPDD Room Block. Should you still plan on visiting Hollywood, FL, please contact the hotel and let them know you would like to keep your reservation. We ask that you do not call the hotel to cancel. You will receive a cancellation confirmation to the email you have on file once your cancelation is complete.  If you have not received a cancellation confirmation by May 15, please contact The Diplomat to ensure your room has been canceled. If you booked a room outside the CPDD Room Block,  you will need to call the hotel directly at (954) 602-6000 to cancel your reservation.  You may be subject to the cancellation policy of that reservation.

What if I already registered for the In-Person meeting and want to attend the Virtual Meeting? We have adjusted the registration prices to attend the Virtual Meeting. Current registrants will have the opportunity to convert your registration to a Virtual Registration and receive a refund, receive a credit to the 2021 Annual Scientific Meeting, or donate the remaining funds to CPDD. Access to the entire 2020 Virtual Meeting Program will be made available starting June 22, 2020, including workshops, plenaries, forums, symposia, late-breaking research, interactive poster and oral sessions, and more. Many of the sessions will be recorded which will not only allow attendees across all time zones to enjoy the meeting when it's convenient for them but will also allow attendees the opportunity to view all sessions instead of choosing between concurrent sessions.

When will the updated agenda at-a-glance be released? The Program Committee has worked tirelessly to determine programming for a condensed, 3-day virtual meeting schedule. The Program Committee will notify speakers of their updated schedule the week of May 11, 2020 and circulate a tentative schedule on the week of May 18, 2020. The schedule may change based on speaker availability.

As a speaker, when should I expect an update about my session? Speakers have been polled to determine interest in participating in the Virtual Meeting. Speakers will be notified on next steps the week of May 11, 2020.

How will Travel Awards be handled for the Virtual Meeting? CPDD and NIDA are working together to develop a plan regarding travel awards to attend the 2020 Virtual Meeting.
