Open Rank Faculty Positions (Assistant, Associate, or Professor)

The Department of Psychiatry at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) invites applications for full-time, open-rank faculty positions for independent investigators in psychiatric research. We seek scientists whose work advances the understanding, prevention, and treatment of addiction and other mental health conditions across the lifespan.

We welcome applicants conducting rigorous, impactful research in areas such as:

  • Cannabis use disorders and cannabis exposure
  • Co-occurring psychiatric disorders (e.g., mood, anxiety, psychotic, trauma and stressor-related, cognitive disorders)
  • Prevention and early intervention
  • Treatment development and evaluation
  • Population mental health, particularly in rural settings
  • Emerging and novel therapeutics, including neuromodulation and psychedelic-assisted treatments

Methodological areas of interest include:

  • Clinical trials
  • Neuroimaging and translational neuroscience
  • Epidemiology and population-based research
  • Implementation and dissemination science
  • Community-engaged and participatory approaches
  • Data science, digital health, and innovative measurement strategies


Position Overview: 
Successful candidates will be expected to:

  • Develop, sustain, or expand an independent, externally funded research program.
  • Collaborate across departments and institutes within UAMS.
  • Contribute to the education and mentorship of medical students, residents, fellows, and graduate trainees.
  • Participate in departmental and institutional service activities.

Academic rank (Assistant, Associate, or Professor) and tenure track status will be commensurate with experience, scholarly productivity, and funding history. A strong record of extramural funding is expected for mid- and senior-level candidates.

Qualifications

  • MD, DO, PhD, or equivalent doctoral degree in psychiatry, psychology, neuroscience, public health, or a related field.
  • Evidence of scholarly productivity, including peer-reviewed publications.
  • For mid- or senior-level applicants, a strong record of external funding is required.
  • Eligibility for Arkansas medical licensure (if applicable).
