Postdoctoral Fellow – Wayne State University
Exciting opportunity in preclinical research on methamphetamine use disorder!

A postdoctoral fellow position is available immediately in the lab of Dr. Anna Moszczynska in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Wayne State University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in Detroit, Michigan.

We have a special interest in understanding how oxidative stress, neuroinflammation, and mitochondrial dysfunction lead to methamphetamine use disorder in rats and in developing novel therapeutic interventions to combat this disorder. We seek a motivated post-doctoral fellow with experience and formal training in handling rats, training in innovative molecular and cellular biology approaches, and a strong interest in preclinical behavioral modeling. The ideal candidate will have excellent written and oral communication skills and hands-on experience in rodent models of drug self-administration. Fellows will have the opportunity to learn and perform stereotaxic surgeries and design and perform molecular and cellular assays, including electrophoresis and immunoblotting, immunohistochemistry, enzymatic activity assays, HPLC, and qPCR.

The successful candidate will be expected to work as part of a team, perform research, write manuscripts, and present his/her findings at local and national meetings. The candidate will also assist in writing progress reports and grant proposals and will be highly encouraged to submit fellowship applications (both intramural and extramural).

The Pharmaceutical Sciences Department in the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences offers a highly collaborative, training and research environment in drug discovery, development, and delivery, pharmaceutics, pharmacology, and neuroscience. Required Qualifications  Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent terminal or doctoral degree.

Preferred Qualifications:
Doctoral degree in the biological sciences, or related disciplines.

Prior experience in working with rodents, and a broad understanding of neuroscience and drug addiction, is strongly preferred.

Salary Range  Pay is commensurate with experience.
