Research Scientist – The University of Michigan Medical School
Addiction and Pain Health Services Research Faculty – Research Scientist
Department of Internal Medicine, Division of General Medicine

Summary:  The University of Michigan’s Division of General Medicine in the Department of Internal Medicine seek a social scientist/health services researcher to join our dynamic and well-established division. We invite applications for research faculty positions on the Research Scientist track to help conduct independently funded health services research and health policy research focused on substance use disorder and chronic pain treatment.  The ideal candidate would have strong managerial skills to help support and mentor a growing team of staff and students working on currently funded projects under Dr. Pooja Lagisetty and other collaborators, strong writing skills to write peer-reviewed manuscripts and grants, and a desire to develop an independent research portfolio within 3-5 years.   Academic rank, faculty track, and salary will be commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities:  Successful applicants will be expected to continue and grow a robust extramurally funded research program that complements current ongoing studies around substance use disorder and chronic pain within the Division.  These studies employ a variety of research methodologies including but not limited to large database analysis, policy evaluation, development and evaluation of mobile health interventions to address stigma and bias, and pragmatic trials of collaborative care models within primary care clinics.  The ideal candidate would be able to support ongoing project management of currently funded projects while also collaborating to develop new proposals for future innovative studies.

University of Michigan investigators in the Division of General Medicine can engage in research, teaching, and mentoring, and become members of the Institute for Healthcare Policy and Innovation. We particularly encourage applicants with active peer-reviewed research and applied research assistant/project management experience to apply.
